Ah! That first one is Aatlo's house near Helsinki. When I went there my favorite part was the secret escape hatch he had from the upper office so he could sneak out and avoid unwanted visitors.

nice post, post-digging the stair over fireplace and the hex stool in bottom shot-any details on these?
1) Alvar Aalto's home/studio in the Munkkiniemi district of Helsinki.
2) Buckminster Fuller's dome home in Carbondale, Illinois. not sure of the year...
